JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Community Operations Coordinator is a live-in professional responsible for supporting both residential community management and departmental operations within the Housing & Residential Experience Center. This role supervises and trains paraprofessional staff, leads student and staff development initiatives, manages crisis response and conduct processes, and supports community programming. The Coordinator also oversees key administrative and operational functions, including key management, purchase orders and invoices, main office student staff supervision, and residence hall facilities oversight such as work orders, building walkthroughs, and coordination with Facilities. This position splits time between the main office and the residential community and reports to the Associate Director of Housing.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise 5-10 residence hall staff members in multiple residence halls for both first-year and upper-level residents.
  • Serve as the primary resource and support for the students and staff residing in assigned residence halls.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of paraprofessional staff.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings with residence hall staff members to share information and discuss student and residence hall issues.
  • Supervise and evaluate the programming efforts of residence hall staff, incorporating all aspects of the programming model to address the needs of students and departmental goals.
  • Co-manage departmental key control processes, including distribution, collection, inventory, and security compliance.
  • Process purchase orders, invoices, and other departmental financial transactions in alignment with university procedures for HREC and Dining Services.
  • Collaborate on recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervising main office student staff to ensure high-quality front-office service.
  • Oversee residence hall facilities operations, including submitting and tracking work orders and monitoring progress.
  • Conduct regular building walkthroughs to assess safety, cleanliness, and maintenance needs.
  • Serve as a liaison with Facilities staff, maintaining consistent communication to resolve maintenance issues and coordinate project work.
  • Maintain accurate administrative records and systems supporting housing operations and facilities management.
  • Administer the residence hall conduct system in assigned buildings.
  • Meet with students and staff to follow up on disciplinary incidents and/or with students of concern.
  • Serve as administrative hearing officer for residence hall conduct cases and housing contract violations.
  • Maintain the computerized database for residential conduct caseload and coordinate record keeping with the Dean of Students Office.
  • Assist in housing-related operations areas including opening and closing of the halls, occupancy reporting, room changes, and housing selection nights.
  • Coordinate quarterly health and safety inspections, end-of-year damage walkthrough, and billing process for assigned buildings.
  • Serve as a member of the housing on-call group and provide active duty coverage during the on-call rotation.
  • Serve as back-up on-call response for Administrator On-Call on a rotating basis and coordinate crisis intervention and response in residential areas.
  • Assist with an additional assigned Residential Education area focused on RA training, RA selection, programming, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and more.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of residence hall experience preferred.
  • Master's degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, or related area preferred.
  • Driver's license preferred.

Salary Grade 4: $44,200 - $48,000 per year (depending on experience)

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
