Description
Responsible for the overall salary administration function for UH, which includes the design and implementation of salary administration programs, policies and procedures; the day-to-day salary administration function; management reporting; and audit of the program. Works closely with the Asst VP of Human Resources Operations and in support of all Compensation goals.
- Provides work direction and supervision to a staff of professional and para-professional employees.
- Designs and develops university-wide pay programs, such as merit and pay equity programs.
- Provides technical and management oversight of the university's job evaluation and classification system.
- Oversees the analysis of staffing requests and new hire/promotional salary recommendations.
- Participates in the preparation of the annual salary budget, which includes the recommended pay structure adjustment and salary increase budget.
- Assists the Asst VP of HR Operations in the strategic initiatives of Compensation.
- Oversees the development of a variety of recurring and ad hoc management reports and ensures their accurate and timely preparation.
- Provides counsel to College and Division managers in compensation-related matters.
- Provides guidance in FLSA matters and in state and local rules and regulations to ensure compliance with all applicable laws related to compensation.
- Writes compensation-related policies and procedures.
- Participates in the administration of the university's performance appraisal system.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.
Preferred Certifications
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
