Employment Type: 35 hours per week (Full-time)

Internal salary: Range 17 - Steps 1-13 $52,513.47 – $84,058.00

External salary: Range 17 – Steps 1-4 -- $52,513.47 - $60,399.60

UNION POSITIONS: The internal salary range is used for applicants who are current NJ state employees with underlying classified status for promotional calculations who meet the requirements below. The external salary range is used for candidates who are not NJ state employees who meet the requirements below.

Position Overview:

The Office of Human Resources is dedicated to the recruitment, retention, and development of a highly qualified, committed, and diverse workforce, encouraging and supporting the faculty and staff in their vital role of meeting the College's mission and goals and our commitment to our students. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Professional Development & Talent, the Human Resources Student Employment Support Specialist is responsible for creating a positive experience for TCNJ students seeking employment and hiring managers through administrative excellence. The ideal candidate must have attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of college personnel and off-campus employers. The ideal candidate must possess great communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.

The Human Resources Student Employment Assistant must be able to interpret and apply federal, state and institutional rules and regulations governing the eligibility of workers. This position is primarily customer service focused, and will assist with all facets of hiring (student, staff, faculty, temporary), as well as departmental support.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a primary point of contact for entire student employment recruitment cycle.
  • Works directly with students and hiring managers for on campus employment inquiries.
  • Collaborates directly with Payroll Services and the Office of Budget and Finance to make ensure payment information is accurate.
  • Works collaboratively with Supervisor to establish relationships with community partners to identify job opportunities for Federal Work Study Community Service opportunities. Confirms award eligibility in collaboration with the Office of Budget & Finance.
  • Provides a full range of recruiting administrative support for hiring managers. Including but not limited to: Assists in the evaluation of job requisition submissions and maintains requisitions in Taleo. Assists in the management of the applicant flow within the applicant tracking system. Assists hiring managers by screening applicants, and providing guidance for the recruitment and interview process.
  • Works with Supervisor to provide guidance on equitable pay rates, offer letters, employment dates, and hiring deadlines.
  • Ensures candidates status updates happen in a timely manner and conducts follow up communications for outstanding on boarding steps.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed and ensure a consistent, fair and equitable hiring process within federal and state legal parameters.
  • Represents the Office of Human Resources to promote student employment during new student orientation.
  • Must able to work independently

Qualifications:

  • Ability to provide exceptional, consistent customer service, manage multiple tasks effectively, and follow through on work initiatives.
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills.
  • Basic payroll knowledge, project management experience, and understanding of labor law compliance.
  • Experience working with an Applicant Tracking System (ATS), and adaptability to new technology.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, and strong attention to detail.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience working with Talent Management System (Taleo) strongly desired.
  • Experience working with HCM Cloud strongly desired.

Ability to lift max. of 10 pounds related to events and workshops.
