Position Announcement
Working with other P/T HR Office Assistants/Campus Operators, this position provides clerical and reception support to the Utah Tech University Human Resources Office, as well as assisting callers to the University in reaching the appropriate people and/or departments on campus. This position works at the HR Front Desk, assists visitors to the Human Resources office, answers and directs calls from the main HR phone line and Campus Operator lines to the appropriate parties, helps gather and process employment-related paperwork, and other clerical duties as assigned. Responsibilities
- Provide reception support for Human Resources, including answering the main HR phone line, assisting visitors to the office, answering general inquiry emails, delivering office mail, taking and responding to messages, etc.
- Serve as a Campus Operator by assisting callers to the main University phone number in reaching the appropriate people and/or departments on campus.
- Assist new hires coming into the Human Resources office by collecting new hire paperwork, answering paperwork questions, processing employment form I-9 as needed, and distributing collected paperwork to the appropriate HR personnel for processing.
- Assist the Human Resources office with various correspondence, typing, preparing mailers, updating various files and records, indexing/digitally filing HR paperwork, and other clerical tasks as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED required; some post-secondary education preferred.
- At least one (1) year of office or customer service experience preferred.
- Looking for reliable team members available for afternoon shifts (typically 1:00pm-5:00pm) on weekdays. We offer flexible scheduling, with specific days set according to mutual availability This schedule remains constant throughout the year, with the exception of University holidays or closures. Potential for additional hours possible, when covering shifts for other HR Office Assistants/Campus Operators on an as-needed basis.
- Excellent customer service and task-switching skills, with the ability to work independently and properly represent the institution and HR department, including adherence to all Utah Tech policies and procedures.
- Good knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, correspondence forms, and general office practices and procedures; good knowledge of office machines.
- Basic computer skills, specifically within MS Office (Word and Excel), email, and internet. Ability to learn new programs or technology a plus.
- Ability to interact with faculty, staff, students, and the general public at all levels while in a fast-paced environment, remaining resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Supplemental Information
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Part-time hourly staff (overtime-eligible) position, working a minimum of 8-10 hours per week on Mondays and Tuesdays during academic year, with more hours available during the summer months (on the same days). Hourly rate of $15.00+, depending on qualifications and experience. Free access to Employee Assistance Program thru Blomquist-Hale and HPC Fitness Center/Recreation facilities; no other benefits. Desired start date as soon as possible.
