Contracts & Grants Specialist
We’re searching for a dedicated Contracts and Grants Specialist to join our collaborative team at Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. In this dynamic role, you’ll partner with multiple departments to propel extramural research, nurture innovative ideas, and ensure compliance at every step.
- Be a Key Player: Support extramural projects from proposal inception to award oversight, making a tangible impact on research outcomes.
- Drive Excellence: Oversee accounting, contract and grant management, and guarantee precise adherence to contractual terms and conditions.
- Master Coordination: Manage the full spectrum of project logistics—vendor contracts, requisitions, purchase orders, equipment procurement and tracking, disclosures, and payroll.
- Maintain Precision: Perform monthly and p-card reconciliations while maintaining detailed project records to uphold transparency and accountability.

Essential Functions
- Coordinates the execution of contract and grants terms and conditions.
- Assists in the administrative management of awards by reconciling expenditures, forecasting and projecting, approving cost transfers and journal entries, subrecipient monitoring, time extension requests, budget reallocations, and monitoring reporting from inception to closeout on behalf of department(s).
- Serve as liaison between faculty, staff, and sponsors to advise and/or assist with the review of documentation for compliance with university, legal, and cost accounting standards, and other guidelines.
- Processes and approves contract and grant related documents such as (but not limited to) subcontract invoices for payment to ensure the correct accounting and contractual elements are in place.
- Trains employees and/or conducts conferences/workshops in proposal development, electronic research administration, internal processes and procedures, agency requirements and award management.
- Maintain records in database for accurate reporting.
- May perform other accounting duties, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Specialist I: Bachelor’s degree in business, management, finance, accounting, or a related field.
Specialist II: Bachelor’s degree in business, management, finance, accounting, or a related field plus 2 years of contracts and grants management experience.
Specialist III: Bachelor’s degree in business, management, finance, accounting, or a related field plus 4 years of contracts and grants management experience.
Substitutions: Experience may be accepted in lieu of education. Graduate degrees may be accepted in lieu of experience.
Minimum Skills and Abilities: Knows fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization.
Salary Range: $36,540-$71,120
