Responsibilities and Duties

• Oversee the activities of the Accounting Department for timely and accurate maintenance of the general ledger and financial management reporting.
• Develop and maintain financial management systems and internal controls required to ensure that University assets are safeguarded and that accounts are appropriately maintained to ensure accurate financial data.
• Oversee Financial Accounting & GAAP/GASB reporting to include managing the University’s external audit and financial reporting process; managing the periodic internal financial reporting process of the University; monitoring and reconciling all University asset and liability accounts.
• Overall responsibility for the management of capital and fixed assets from a finance perspective.
• Provide information and support to finance and senior management as required.
• Financial reporting which includes the preparation of the University’s Financial Statements, taxation, IPEDS and other required financial reports and information.
• Compile, analyze and review the preparation and accuracy of all financial statement reports and schedules.  Manage and create all required documentation for audit review regarding financial statements and related financial processes.
• Responsible for the analysis, reporting and accuracy of financial data related to IPEDS reports, the proper classification/depreciation of fixed assets and capital projects, 1099 reporting, grant and financial aid draws.
• Hire, train, evaluate, counsel, motivate and develop staff. Establish individual and unit goals in alignment with the Administration & Finance and University’s strategic plan.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of related experience.
• Preferred
  • Master’s degree.
  • CPA.
  • Experience with a complex ERP system in a large organization environment.
  • Higher Education Experience.
