The Assistant or Associate Professor & Program Director’s administrative responsibilities include:
Fiscal planning
Program planning and development
Ongoing assessment and analysis of all program activities
Ensuring that, in all aspects, the program meets the requirements of the CoARC Accreditation Standards
Additionally, the APPD’S educational responsibilities include continuous curriculum development and teaching didactic and/or laboratory courses throughout each academic year. The APPD works collaboratively with the Director of Clinical Education to ensure the clinical education for program students is coordinated with didactic and laboratory activities and is sufficient to meet program outcomes required by the CoARC Standards; and encourage additional faculty to participate in the assessment process to build a strong program and culture.
The APPD has oversight of the online degree completion directives to ensure education for program students is consistent and high quality. In addition, the Program Director works collaboratively with the Satellite Coordinator for the proposed satellite program to ensure outcomes required by the CoARC standards are met.
The APPD is expected to participate in service and research. Examples include holding additional leadership roles within the institution or spending non-program time in clinical practice or research. It is also acceptable to engage in respiratory care professional association(s); such as in elected roles or committee participation.
As part of their professional development and service, the faculty member will have the opportunity to advance the department’s student success initiatives as related to the program across campuses.
