Curriculum Coordinator (4770)
Provide support for the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of all phases in the Physician Assistant (PA) Program curriculum for the PA Program Director, including assisting faculty in preparing and editing curricular material, coordinating curricular activities, providing oversight of the Standardized Patient Program, participate in and provide support for the Student Progress Committee.
Coordinates and assists faculty in the development and delivery of curriculum documents, resources, and materials, including, but not limited to, calendars, tutor group lists, student and faculty schedules, and tutor guides. (20%)
2. Coordinates all curriculum activities in D2L or the current curriculum platform, including but not limited to assigning faculty of record, setting parameters, and exam delivery. (10%)
3. Manages data collection for curriculum and program evaluations and monitors and tracks incomplete student grades. (10%)
4. Maintains confidential student records, files, grades, progress letters, and supporting documentation. (10%)
5. Prepares documents requiring compilation of information from multiple units/sources, such as accreditation documents. (10%)
6. Coordinates the scheduling of classrooms and conference rooms utilized by the PA Program and SIU Medicine Carbondale. (10%)
7. Coordinates student sequestration, timed exams, and end-of-unit oral exams and write-ups. Schedule and proctor end-of-unit exams and coordinate all evaluation activities. (5%)
8. Coordinates patient recruitment, orientation, training, clinical sessions/exams, and completion of Extra Help employment paperwork for the Standardized Patient Program.(5%)
9. Attends all program meetings and serves as the Student Progress Committee recorder.(5%)
10. Compiles tutor group assessments and coordinates faculty in the grading of exams.(5%)
11. Provides supervision for the Medical Education Program Specialist.(5%)
12. Other duties as assigned by the PA Program Director.(5%)
Credentials to be Verified by Placement Officer
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Any one or combination totaling four (4) years (48 months), from the categories below:
- College coursework in medical education, education, communications, public relations, or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
- Progressively more responsible clerical or secretarial experience, including a background in electronic word processing and database management systems
- College coursework in medical education, education, communications, public relations, or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- Work experience totaling one (1) year (12 months) comparable to that gained at the Medical Education Program Specialist level or similar experience within a medical education program.
Please Note: Completion of the Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education Programs Certification (TAGME) from the National Board for Certification of Training Administrators qualifies applicants for each level of this series.
