Degree Audit Program Specialist
Provides support for the daily activities in an assigned unit and knowledgeable in a specific discipline that aligns with the department, implements key business strategies and initiatives to meet the organizational goals.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience with the daily operation of an assigned unit or organization and serves as a professional consultant knowledgeable in a specific discipline, profession or industry.
- Ability to plan and maintain work systems, follow processes and policies that enable and encourage the unit to meet the organizational objectives.
- Must have specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; operating standard office equipment; utilizing relevant software applications; facilitating meetings and projects.
- Ability to understand new emerging trends in area(s) of expertise and prepares for changes that may occur because of these trends.
- Able to work independently and be a strong effective team player, committed to delivering timely results; with excellent organizational skills and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to research and propose new methodologies and technologies to enhance the work-flow process.
- Ability to respond to written and verbal inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources for the purpose of resolving problems, providing information and/or referring to the appropriate personnel and/or identifying the relevant issues and recommending a remediation plan.
- Ability to choose effective and appropriate communication and communicate in a respectful tone and manner, listen actively, write clearly and accurately in a variety of contexts and formats when communicating.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for writing syntax and programming the automated degree plans used by students in tracking their progress toward degree completion.
- Analyzes and designs departmental systems in compliance with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and College guidelines.
- Program degrees and certificate plans, including academic requirements, in Workday/Colleague.
- Work with IT programmers and analysts to test and recommend new core and TSI programming.
- Collaborate with Degree Audit staff to ensure deadlines are met; work with Catalog Web Team, Curriculum Management and Workforce Education to improve/revise degree plans.
- Audit student graduation files for compliance to THECB guidelines.
- Process logs and create reports as requested.
- Provide Degree Audit expertise and support for implementation of new technology.
- Develop and deliver training for incoming Degree Audit team members.
- Create Degree Audit training for Success Coaches and other student-facing staff.
- Develop, document, and continuously improve Degree Audit processes, such as petitions for substitution, graduation application processes, CE to CR conversions, and student communications.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and update Degree Audit SharePoint site, including creating communication flows.
- Develop and support applications for graduate check-in at commencement using Power Apps.
- Provide a lead role in commencement planning and execution.
- Collaborate with teams across Student Success and Dallas College, including Academics, Workforce, Marketing, and IT, on issues related to curriculum and graduation.
- Compile reports on graduates, eligible candidates for commencement, students on track for completion or close to completion.
- Troubleshoot and maintain Power BI dashboards.
- Develop and support processes to improve Reverse Transfer efficiencies by importing incoming EDI files using Python script and ensuring accurate data reporting on Reverse Transfer from an internal database using Power Query.
- Provide leadership to the Degree Audit team and oversee department in Associate Dean’s absence.
- Uses excellent interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills when communicating with stakeholders and constituents within the Dallas College community network.
- Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
- Performs other duties as required.
