Department Assistant (Part Time)
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Under moderate to limited supervision, provides department support, manages department processes, and ensures smooth running of the office. This position will work approximately 26 hours per week Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Summer hours are in effect May 15-July 31. During this time, all KCC offices are closed on Fridays.)

- Primary contact providing customer support services to students, faculty, staff, and guests via the telephone, email, and/or walk-in traffic.
- Collaborte with the staff and faculty to manage a variety of tasks, projects to ensure effective workflow.
- Perform various office clerical duties, including scheduling activies using scheduling software, ordering and stocking supplies, sorting and distributing mail, entering maintenance orders, keeping work areas in an operational state.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
- Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and responsibility while independently managing taks at the department front desk.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling student records, and department documents.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with diverse groups of students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
- Take the initative to identify tasks that need to be completed, ask questions and seek clarification when needed.
- Exhibit attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when assisting with department operations.
- Foster a welcome environment for all who interacti wth the Social Sciences Department.
- Adapt to shiting priorities and assist with a variety of tasks depending on the department needs.
- Welcome, value, and nurture people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts these differences.
Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing. The position involves occasional (10-33%) driving to events and meetings away from KCC's main campus.
