We are seeking an ambitious, values-driven, and highly motivated leader to join our Executive Board as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students).

In this vital senior role, you will work closely with the Vice-Chancellor and the wider leadership team to deliver our Strategy 2030 and ensure all Bath Spa students — wherever they are in the world — benefit from an outstanding education and transformative student experience.

As Deputy Vice-Chancellor, you will create and lead BSU’s external offer, fusing teaching and learning, research, and knowledge exchange to meet the needs of a diverse and evolving student population, as well as the core economy.

About the role

• A substantial track record of senior, interdisciplinary leadership and management experience within the university sector including both academic and professional services functions
• Experience of developing strong and sustainable relationships with key external stakeholders
• Demonstrable change management skills evidenced by successfully implementing strategic change to deliver positive KPIs
• Evidence of a student-centered approach and experience of developing successful strategies to respond to the needs of diverse cohorts of learners
• Demonstrable commercial acumen and expertise in leading innovation to improve financial sustainability
• Confident and credible with an ability to quickly build rapport and effective working relationships with both senior executives and colleagues at all levels within the organisation and externally
• Calm under pressure, clear sighted and effective
• Self-motivated and ambitious
• Supportive and values-led
• Resilient and determined

About you

This is a highly visible leadership post with responsibilities that include:

• Supporting the VC to develop and deliver Strategy 2030
• Leadership of particular projects of strategic importance to the University; these may include academic development; infrastructure investment; academic or commercial collaborations
• Driving student experience and outcomes for both home and international learners across all locations
• Leading our Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) submission
• Representing the University externally and chairing key internal governance groups including Academic Board and the University Executive Board
• Deputising for the Vice-Chancellor and line managing senior academic and professional colleagues
