University Housing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is looking for a customer-oriented and energetic individual to join our Desk Services team as a Desk Services Coordinator! This position supervises student supervisors to oversee eleven desk areas, provide customer service, hire, train, and develop desk staff.
We are a dynamic operation with an emphasis on high standards for administrative processes and excellent customer service. The Desk Services Coordinator will assist with managing the Residence Hall Desk Services operation during the summer conference season and the academic year. This position will also provide administrative assistance and support to a variety of Desk Services and Residential Operations related functions.
- Coordinates functions and operations of Desk Services
- Demonstrates and role models exceptional customer service
- Provides support and assists as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency
- Serves as a hearing officer
Work Schedule: Primary schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Schedule will be determined upon hire. Schedule alterations as operation and position expectations demand.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Implements operational procedures, methods, and policies to achieve established goals, meet compliance requirements, and ensure effective service
- Directs and audits customer services and/or retail program operations to ensure customer service objectives are met
- May create and monitor the unit operating budget and approve expenditures
- Identifies, develops, and facilitates staff training opportunities
- Provides operational and strategic guidance to all unit staff
- Develops and schedules unit operational work plans
- Hire, train, and supervise student staff
Department:
Division of University Housing, Residential Operations
University Housing Residential Operations provides residential accommodations, programs, and services to actively support the mission of the University; meet the needs of students, families, staff, and guests; and foster the development of residential communities. Residential Operations includes Marketing and Communications, Events and Conferences, Desk Services, and Residence Hall Assignments. University Housing houses over 8,000 students in Residence Halls across campus and 3,000 residents in University Apartments.
Compensation:
The starting salary for the position is $56,112 annually (12 months), or higher based on experience and qualifications and includes a competitive retirement and benefits package! Benefits information can be found at https://hr.wisc.edu/benefits/.
Required Qualifications:
- At least one year of post-bachelor’s degree experience in hospitality or higher education required
- Experience supervising students
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with residence hall front desk operations
- Experience working within a university housing setting
Education:
Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent professional experience, in the fields of higher education, hospitality, event management, communications, or a related field
