Location

Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.

Job Summary

The undergraduate field experience is the cornerstone of the BSW curriculum and is considered to the "signature pedagogy" for social work by CSWE. It engages the BSW student in supervised social work practice and provides opportunities to apply classroom learning in the field setting. The BSW Field Coordinator must be knowledgeable about current CSWE accreditation standards and ensure they are maintained in all areas of field. The BSW Field Coordinator exercises responsibility for the administration of the field experience program, ensuring planned cooperation and coordination between the BSW program and the agencies approved for the field placement of undergraduate students

Responsibilities

  • work closely with the BSW Program Director to ensure that field placement procedures, policies and implementation are integrated with classroom activities, and that field and classroom courses mutually support the mission of the BSW program;
  • convene the BSW Field Advisory committee to regularly review the field program operations;
  • represent the BSW field program to the faculty, obtaining faculty input in order to review and refine field policies and procedures;
  • develop and maintain high-quality field placements that support the educational mission of the BSW program;
  • select qualified BSW field instructors to supervise students in their internship placements;
  • work closely with the BSW field instructors to ensure that they offer appropriate learning opportunities to the BSW students that meet all CSWE accreditation standards;
  • provide timely, ethical, and educationally-sound orientations and training and supervision to field instructors that adhere to all CSWE accreditation standards;
  • fully document student learning activities;
  • advise and place eligible BSW students in their practicum settings;
  • deliver high-quality field orientations and training to BSW field students, including directions on how to effectively utilize the online Tevera field program in Georgia View;
  • appoint faculty field liaisons based on expertise and areas of research interests; teach field seminar and field instruction courses;
  • administer the normal student evaluations used in the BSW program evaluation process;
  • maintain statistical data in order to evaluate student and program outcome assessments in the field.
  • Update the BSW Field Manual and forms used in the field program, as needed

Required Qualifications

Must possess a PhD degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program

No less than two years of full-time post-master's degree experience in professional social work. 

One to two years of experience working with data bases and survey tools.

Proposed Salary

Salary range is from $51,600 to $63,000

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of CSWE accreditation standards and their application to undergraduate field programming
  • Knowledge of computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database capabilities
  • a knowledge of field program management software used for field placement, student progress tracking, document management, and workflow automation
  • Familiarity with generalist social work settings in Southwest Georgia, the State, and the region
  • Knowledge of Title IV-E policies and procedures as they relate to undergraduate field internships in the State of Georgia
  • An established record of community engagement skills 
  • Strong administrative, leadership, management, and supervisory skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and proactive conflict resolution skills
  • A professional social work identity with accompanying values and ethics, with a particular commitment to, and skill in, encouraging diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • The ability to deliver high-quality field programming 
  • Excellent networking and professional communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and students, as well as people from culturally diverse backgrounds 
  • Ability to engage and successfully work with stakeholders in the department, the college, the university, social service agencies, and the larger community
  • Demonstrated ability to work within ambiguous situations and successfully apply novel solutions 
  • Physical ability to travel to provide supervision and oversight of undergraduate field practicum placements
  • Demonstrated ability to serve a varied population with a knowledge of the intersectionality of various domains, applying an equity lens to this position, including social, economic, and environmental justice, as required by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
