Director, Cadet Leadership Preparatory Program

Job Summary

Reports to the Commandant of Cadets. The Director, Cadet Leadership Preparatory Program (CLPP), designs, leads, and scales UNG's preparatory cadet enterprise as the front door to Delivering the Corps of the Future, deliberately shaping foundational mindset, character, discipline, and readiness prior to matriculation into the Corps of Cadets. The Director serves as a strategic architect and exercises enterprise-level influence across UNG campuses by standardizing and assessing preparatory cadet development practices that advance America's Corps. Evening/weekend duty during peak events; off-hours coordination as required. Uniformed presence as directed.

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and holds the responsibility of serving as a mandatory reporter for all Clery Act crimes.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Program Design & Integration - Design, implement, and continuously refine CLPP as a standards-driven feeder into the Corps of Cadets. Ensure that the curriculum, training events, and assessments deliberately build the foundational attributes required for commissioning success. Ensure alignment with established military science learning objectives.
  • Cadet Development & Training Execution - Direct leadership laboratories, physical readiness preparation, military customs and courtesies, team building, resilience, and character development. Establish and enforce discipline, accountability, attendance, and performance standards.
  • America's Corps Multi-Campus Influence - Serve as the CLA lead for exporting preparatory cadet development best practices to other UNG campuses; synchronize standards, share curriculum, and advise campus partners on preparatory leader development efforts.
  • Recruit-to-Matriculation Pipeline Management - Integrate CLPP with Enrollment Management, Recruiting, and the Corps recruiting enterprise to identify, assess, track, and prepare prospects from first contact through arrival to campus.
  • Assessment, Data & Outcomes Tracking - Build and maintain metrics for retention, transition success, discipline, fitness readiness, academic readiness, and commissioning potential; provide regular reports to CLA leadership.
  • Risk, Compliance & Safety Oversight - Ensure RMS packets, safety plans, waivers, medical coverage, emergency action plans, and candidate welfare considerations are developed and enforced for all CLPP activities.
  • Senior Leader Communication & Candidate Advocacy - Serve as the primary CLPP representative to senior leadership across Gainesville Campus and supporting UNG offices; regularly communicate candidate readiness, resource requirements, risk, and infrastructure needs to the Commandant of Cadets, Gainesville Campus leadership, Enrollment Management, Housing & Residence Life, Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong organizer and communicator; proficient with MS Office/SharePoint or similar.
  • Applies risk management and Army standards with precision; professional, uniformed presence as directed.
  • Ability to meet Army height/weight (HT/WT) and professional appearance standards.
  • Must be able to do physical training with candidates.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or a Graduate of the U.S. Army Advanced or Senior Leader Course.
  • Completion of the United States Army Ranger Course, Basic Leadership Course, Advanced/Senior Leadership Course, and Common Faculty Developer Instructor Course.
  • 10 - 15 years of progressive Army leadership or service equivalent, including responsibility for training programs or organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and running leadership development programs for youth or college-aged populations.
  • Ranger Instructor (RI) or ROTC Instructor preferred.
