Job Description: The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for strategically planning, successfully managing, and executing a comprehensive annual giving program for the University. The incumbent will report to the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Advancement and proactively engage and manage relationships with donors, parents, faculty and staff, students, and affinity group philanthropy.
Responsibilities:
- Fundraising: Create, execute and manage a comprehensive, multi-constituent Annual Giving program. Develop and implement targeted campaigns and approaches for current donors, parents, faculty and staff, students, affinity groups, and friends of Coppin. Identify opportunities to develop Annual Fund donors into Leadership gift donors and assist with solicitation. Develop and coordinate a student philanthropy program.
- Stewardship and Donor Relations: Develop and maintain donor societies and coordinate appropriate recognition. Collaborate across the division to facilitate integrated approaches to cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of annual donors and prospects. Work with Director of Alumni Engagement to develop and maintain young alumni and other affinity group programming to cultivate for annual gifts.
- Operations: Facilitate and manage the production and mailing of annual appeals and reports through our mail house vendor to donors and their families. Analyze metrics and key performance indicators for respective initiatives and programs. Work closely with Advancement team and senior leadership to plan and execute development strategies to advance the University. Assist with other development projects as needed and directed by the Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Make effective use of the University’s prospect management database and other institutional resources to ensure appropriate management of donors, prospects, alumni, and volunteers in coordination with University objectives. Serves as an exemplary advocate of the University in the community with alumni, friends, local leaders, businesses, and other key constituents. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in either business, marketing, finance or non-profit management required.
EXPERIENCE: At least three years in professional experience in fundraising, annual giving, alumni engagement or in the non-profit sector.
Other: Applicants may be required to complete the institution’s required skills assessment to be considered. Some positions require specific skills such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, email or calendaring software, and Internet proficiency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Strong organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to analyze data and giving trends. Ability to innovate and strategically plan and problem solve. Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain attention to detail. Be able to work effectively with a team and with many diverse constituencies in a university environment. Exemplary interpersonal skills and appropriate disposition for a fundraiser. Have a high level of personal integrity and emotional intelligence. Have a commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth.
