Classification: MnSCU Academic Supervisor 2 Unlimited, Full-time 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday – Friday)*A flexible work schedule may be approved with up to two days remote work per week

Salary Range: Hourly from $33.61 to $48.66; Annually from $70,178 to $101,602*S alary placement is dependent on education and experience

THE POSITION AND THE DEPARTMENT

Online courses are a critical component of Normandale Community College’s overall enrollment. In the 2023-2024 academic year, online and hybrid courses accounted for 77% of the 186,000 credits sold, representing 6,203 Full Year Equivalents. Because face-to-face courses must also have an online presence, online learning department activities impact every one of our 15,000 students and 300 faculty members.

The Director of Online Learning provides strategic and operational leadership for the Online Learning Department. This includes setting and implementing departmental goals, managing budgets and resources, and supervising staff. The Director ensures compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements, while fostering innovation and quality in online course delivery. They will collaborate with college leadership, faculty, and external partners to advance institutional priorities and enhance the online learning experience for students. This position also supports the achievement of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities’ Equity 2030 goals – primarily, enhanced access, student engagement, and academic success.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Essential: 2 years’ professional experience in online learning in higher education, industry, or the non-profit sector; an associate’s degree may substitute for 6 months experience; a bachelor's degree may substitute for 1.5 years’ experience from an accredited college or university.

Demonstrated experience in overseeing day-to-day operations of a department or unit, including direct supervision of staff and responsibility for handling and monitoring a budget.

Demonstrated proficiency in designing and delivering online and hybrid courses using established guidelines for effective teaching and learning

Demonstrated experience successfully collaborating with multiple partners to develop, implement, and complete initiatives or projects. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and diverse projects. Demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing sufficient to prepare messages and materials for diverse audiences and clearly present, explain, and discuss complex topics.

Preferred: Master’s degree in higher education administration, business, or another relevant field.

Experience managing in a collective bargaining environment. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
