Director, Residential Life
As the Director of Residential Life, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all aspects of our residential living program. You will supervise a team of professional staff, fostering their development and ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of our residential communities.
A core responsibility of this role is to drive the vision for the residential experience. This includes designing student-centered policies, developing vibrant communities, and ensuring an environment that supports the academic and personal growth of our students and Residential Advisers. You will also be a key member of the institution's on-call rotation, providing leadership and support for emergency situations and critical incidents.
Job Duties:
- Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Associate Dean, Housing and Residential Life
- Work Setting: On Campus, student facing position
- What You Will Do:
- Supervision & Staff Development: Provides daily support, training and direct supervision of the Community Directors. Indirectly supervises Residential Advisers to ensure consistency in the student staff experience through training and communication.
- Residential Curriculum Implementation and Oversight: Director implementation of a residential co-curricular experience through collaboration with the Faculty in Residence, membership on the Residential College Steering Committee, partnering with Housing Services and other stakeholders to support the success of legacy houses and affinity spaces, and maintenance and assessment of the residential curriculum. Oversees the Residential Education programming budget.
- Residential Emergency and Incident Response Management: Provides on-call and incident response management for Residential Life, including CD's and RA's. Provides support to the Community Director team, as directed by the Dean of Students office to best respond to student conduct and emergency issues.
- Student Leadership Development and Advising: Develops and provides leadership opportunities for student leaders by advising Bucknell Residence Hall Association and related student advisory and programing boards.
- Housing Services Partnership and Operational Collaboration: Creates and maintains a strong partnership with Housing Services, collaborating on issues related to office management, student-centered policies and practices, and operational functions.

What You Will Bring:
Required:
- Masters Degree
- Minimum of 4 years professional experience.
Preferred, but not required:
- Master's Degree in Student Affairs or Higher Education Administration
- Minimum of 6 years in Housing and Residential Instruction
Physical Requirements:
Office environment: Sitting, typing, talking, walking, climbing stairs; Ability to respond to emergency situations, after hours on site.
Job Exempt: Yes
Salary Range: 65,680.00-82,100.00
The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
