Director, Upward Bound - MSUAASF Range D (AA26143)
Job Description
The Director is responsible for the successful operation of the federally funded Upward Bound Department. Responsibilities include short and long-range planning; budget management; federal reporting and accountability; staff training and supervision; direct student services; curriculum development; and collaboration with partner schools and community organizations. The Director communicates with the U.S. Department of Education on a regular basis and is responsible for ensuring that all applicable federal regulations are followed. The Director is responsible for providing services as described in the grant and submitting annual reports and budgets to the U.S. Department of Education and documenting all services and budget expenditures according to federal regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education, Student Personnel, or field related to Education (Conferred on an official transcript at the time of application.)
- Five (5) years experience working in teaching, counseling or advising
- Experience with administration and supervision.
- Experience with grant writing, budget management and development
- Experience in developing curriculum and in data collection
- Demonstrated ability to work with persons underrepresented in education
- Demonstrated knowledge of TRIO programs, Higher Education Act and federal regulations of the U.S. Department of Education
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to teach and deliver services remotely
Preferred Qualification
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
- Experience with program design, management and implementation.

Other Requirements
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
This position requires a valid, applicable driver's license, as well as a DVS records check with an acceptable rating. Employees must have an active, valid, and, applicable driver's license if they drive a vehicle on state business. This position requires passing background check. It is expected that the employee maintains the ability to pass applicable background check throughout employment. It is the employee's responsibility to notify the supervisor no later than the beginning of your next shift of any charges, allegations, convictions that may impact their standing under the applicable background check.
Availability to work weekends, evenings, and overnight as required.
