Summary of Position
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program at RRCC is seeking a DMS Cardiac Sonography Skills Instructor to provide hands-on instructional support to students practicing Echocardiography exams in our DMS lab. Act in a supportive role to the program and to faculty teaching the curriculum, ensuring that instruction between classroom and lab is consistent and effective.
This position reports to the Department Chair of DMS. Position is needed for the Fall & Spring Semesters only. Fall lab is currently set for Mondays; 09:00AM-02:00PM, with additional hours as needed and dependent on course schedules at the Arvada Campus location.
This position is located on the Arvada campus, with views looking along the Front Range to Boulder and beyond. The Arvada campus is a state-of-the art instructional space for health sciences programs and facilitates inter-professional education in the fields of Diagnostic Sonography, Medical Assisting and Office Management, Nurse Aide, Physician Assistant, Radiologic Technology, and RN programs. Sonography students have access to a variety of ultrasound machines on campus providing hands-on experience prior to clinical internship. During internship, students are assigned to a main clinical site for three full time semesters. May require hours outside of normal work schedule.
This position may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of cardiac sonography techniques and ARDMS standards.
- Proficiency in performing and teaching echocardiographic procedures.
- Skilled in hands-on instruction and student assessment.
- Familiarity with ultrasound equipment and instructional technology (e.g., D2L).
- Strong communication, organization, and time management.
- Ability to support diverse learners and provide constructive feedback.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty and manage lab environments.
- Flexible schedule and commitment to professional growth.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program
- Associate of Applied Science degree from an accredited institution or higher
- ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Medical Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in medical imaging or a closely related discipline
- 2 years of paid clinical experience as a registered cardiac sonographer
- 3+ months of experience in course development, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising
Physical & Cognitive Demands

- Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
- This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
- The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Hourly Pay
The hourly pay for this position is $51.07, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.
This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
