About the Role

The Education Designer provides specialist expertise in the design and development of high‑quality educational programs and learning experiences within the Education Innovation Exchange (EIX). Reporting to the Manager, Education Design, the role supports curriculum and assessment design, the implementation of innovative teaching methodologies, and the development of strategies that enhance student learning. Through this work, the Education Designer plays a key role in advancing student success by ensuring education design initiatives are aligned with curriculum standards, pedagogical best practice, and technological objectives across both Higher Education (HE) and Vocational Education and Training (VET).

Working across complex and interrelated initiatives, the Education Designer connects with a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve EIX and broader university objectives. This includes collaborating closely with course leaders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and educators to design cohesive, learner‑centred program structures that drive curriculum innovation, align learning outcomes, and meet quality assurance and accreditation requirements so disciplinary content can be translated into engaging, learner‑centred learning experiences.

In addition to program and curriculum design, the Education Designer contributes to learning and development (L&D) initiatives, including the Educator Capability Program (ECP). This work focuses on supporting educators to enhance learner outcomes through capability building across face‑to‑face, online, and blended learning environments, ensuring teaching practices are innovative, effective, and aligned with institutional priorities.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading education-focused projects and programs within a teaching unit, resulting in significant changes that enhance organisational operational excellence
  • Demonstrated commitment to, and experience in, technology enhanced learning and teaching in tertiary education (higher education and/or pathways and vocational education).
  • Demonstrated experience implementing quality teaching and learning processes to enhance the learner experience
  • Demonstrated experience in working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and supporting learning technologies

Qualifications

A postgraduate qualification or progress towards postgraduate qualification and or an equivalent combination of relevant experience in education, instructional design, learning design or a related field and/or education/training.
