Employment Specialist, Human Resources
The Human Resources Employment Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of the University’s hiring process, including supporting hiring managers in the creation of new positions, recruitment, and all other aspects of the hiring process through the hiring of the selected candidate. This role reports directly to the University’s Vice President and General Counsel. Additionally, the Employment Specialist will provide administrative and analytical support to the Human Resources Department, requiring a diverse range of complex professional and technical responsibilities with complete confidentiality. In collaboration with the Directors for Human Resources, this role will focus on providing support for HRIS, reporting, and analytics to foster top-level customer service for both internal and external constituents. The salary range is $64,000 - $72,000 annually. The actual starting salary will be determined by education, skills, experience, and other factors permitted by law.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Positively support hiring managers throughout the University in the development of all positions for recruitment and hiring processes
- Liaison with internal hiring managers and external recruiting sources and search teams
- Coordinate competitive placements for advertisements and recruitment resources
- Primary contact for PeopleAdmin, HireRight, and Travel vendor relationships
- Provide reports and analytics related to hiring, turnover, and retention
- Coordinate and track search processes
- Prepare, track, and maintain appointment letters and related hiring/search records
- Process and maintain confidential department records including labor relations, grievances
- Manage background check information, budget transactions, interviewing and relocation costs for candidates and new hires, reimbursement forms, and related HR records
- Resource and collaborator for union-related hiring work
Key member of the HR team in developing reports and supporting the production of metrics, employee records, prepare correspondence for managers and union leaders, and assist internal and external customers. Support strategic initiatives and projects and serve on University committees as a representative of HR. Respond timely to employee questions regarding policies, procedures, and programs, compose and edit correspondence, and assist with special projects/research as required. Expected to work as a positive and collaborative member of the team. Additional related duties as assigned. Primary work is on-site at our Canton, NY campus location.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience in human resources or related field managing confidential records. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to compose a variety of communications and reports. Technical and analytical skills coupled with organization and attention to detail required. Must be able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and keep work products completely confidential. Demonstrated technical competency including proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and employee databases or other comparable software programs is required. The ideal candidate should possess the ability to multi-task in a busy team-orientated environment. Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students daily.
Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess the ability to multi-task in a busy team-orientated environment with prior recruitment and talent-sourcing experience. Experience in developing HR-related programs is desired. Knowledge of Applicant Tracking systems and Ellucian’s Colleague system or comparable human resources information systems/software is preferred.
