Essential Job Duties: We are hiring an HR Specialist to help keep our operations running smoothly and support the people who make our work possible.

What Makes This Role Unique: As the HR Specialist, you'll serve as the primary resource for HR services across all employee types - EHRA, SHRA, faculty, temporary, and student workers. Your work will be central to both daily operations and long-term goals, helping ensure faculty, staff, and students have what they need to succeed.

This high-impact role offers autonomy, growth, and the chance to lead HR operations across all employee types. You'll manage complex processes with minimal supervision and serve as a trusted partner to faculty and staff. From hiring and onboarding to compliance and compensation, your work will support every area of the college. You'll also help shape HR practices by creating SOPs, advising on policy changes, and sharing knowledge across departments.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Create job postings, draft offer letters, coordinate hiring across multiple employee types.
  • Guide faculty and staff on HR policies and practices, including compensation, visas, and compliance.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for key HR processes.
  • Proactively identify needs and recommend solutions that enhance the employee experience.
  • Serve as the primary responder for ServiceNow HR tickets and support inquiries.
  • Engage in training, documentation, and knowledge sharing across departments.
  • Participate in HR committees and maintain strong connections across campus HR units.

If you are a self-motivated, organized problem-solver who can manage HR tasks independently, learn quickly in a fast-paced environment, support others with professionalism, and use systems and data to make informed decisions - we encourage you to apply.

You Belong Here! At NC State, our goal is for all employees to reach their fullest potential at work. As you consider this opportunity, we encourage you to review our Employee Value Proposition and learn more about what makes NC State the best place to learn and work for everyone.

Other Work/Responsibilities: In addition to the core responsibilities of this role, there will be occasional opportunities to take on additional duties. This offers an opportunity to build on your skills, explore new areas, and gain a deeper understanding of the department's operations.

Minimum Experience/Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of human resources legal requirements.
  • Proficiency in HR information systems and/or related tools.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professional integrity.
  • Customer-service orientation with a demonstrated commitment to supporting a varied academic community.
  • Ability to problem-solve and apply critical thinking to a wide range of HR-related scenarios.
