The College of Engineering is seeking an intern in the College of Engineering, the candidate will work closely with the Director of Engineering Outreach to:
Work with community partners in the Greater Pittsburgh community who serve K-12 students. Help manage student outreach teams and schedule visits with community partners. Assist with the development and implementation of engineering curriculum (building/acquisition of module materials and testing modules with community partners).
Responsibilities:
- Work in collaboration with the Director of Engineering Outreach to support K-12 outreach efforts, including timely updates and follow-up on community partner initiatives.
- Establish a connection with engineering students interested in outreach.
- Continue to help develop trust-based relationships with communities within Pittsburgh that have been historically marginalized.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION GIVEN AND RECEIVED:
- The candidate will report to the Director of Engineering Outreach but work very closely with the Engineering Outreach Coordinator.
- The candidate will be expected to attend weekly one-on-one meetings.
- The Candidate will have the opportunity to participate in professional development seminars and activities.
- The candidate will provide guidance, skill development and programming support to K-12 students.

WORK HOURS:
Intern will work 15-20 hours per week during the academic year with an option to work longer hours during the summer term. The candidate will work with the Director of Engineering Outreach to establish an acceptable work schedule. This position requires some evening and weekend hours in order to serve Pittsburgh in school and Out of School Time (OST) programming. Ability to travel to off-site locations within Pittsburgh is required.
Qualifications:
- K-12 experience required.
- Experience in STEM field is required.
- Knowledge and experience developing/implementing outreach programming is required
- Collaborative professional with experience working on college campuses in academic and/or K-12 student services environments is preferred
- Experience with G suite applications
- Strong time management, organization, and project prioritization skills
- Obtain Clearances Act 33, Act 34, and Act 151
- A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered
