Equipment Mechanic II

The College of Southern Nevada, Henderson Campus, is recruiting for an Equipment Mechanic II to support operations in the Applied Technology Department, Engineering Technology Program.
Under direct supervision, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain, repair, and modify Mechanical Training Equipment used in an educational lab setting comprised of a variety of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, and electronic sensors and transducers, as well as other specialized mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot, repair, or replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts. Adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance. Clean equipment, parts, or tools to repair or maintain them in good working order. Lubricate equipment to allow proper functioning. Inspect mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects, or wear. Test mechanical equipment to ensure proper functioning. Order materials, supplies, or equipment as needed. Record information about parts, materials, or repair procedures. Analyze, test, or performance data to assess equipment operation. Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Troubleshoot issues utilizing test drives, pressure and temperature checks, visual inspection, use of diagnostic equipment, and reference to technical service manuals, service information bulletins, blueprints and schematic manuals. They will diagnose malfunctions and order parts required for repairs by researching parts manual to locate proper parts, contacting vendors if necessary, and completing purchase requisitions.
- Make repairs to lab equipment as required to prepare equipment for lab and classroom use. The Equipment Mechanic II will ensure equipment is in proper working order prior to class start, per course instructor specifications.
Required Qualifications
Completion of a recognized automotive/equipment repair apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level experience equivalent to the Equipment Mechanic II; OR one year of experience as an Equipment Mechanic II in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a College Laboratory environment. Experience working around students in an educational or college setting. Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial maintenance, and or service environment.
Weekly Schedule
Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Schedule may change based on the needs of the department.
Starting Salary
Grade 31, CBA A, E, F - Step 1 - $ 56,563.92 Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
