Faculty Affairs Administrator 2

Reporting to the Vice Dean of the School of Medicine, the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) is comprised of 12 faculty associate deans and 23 staff members who serve a total population of approximately 6,700. The primary mission of OAA is to serve as a resource in preserving and enhancing the excellence of the School of Medicine through the appointment, reappointment, promotion and retention of a distinguished and diverse faculty.

The Faculty Affairs Administrator 2 role provides analysis and guidance regarding faculty appointments, reappointments for the School of Medicine. This position provides subject matter expertise, ensures compliance with school and university policies, and works towards continuous process excellence. Reporting to the Director of Academic Affairs, the Faculty Affairs Administrator 2 core duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Serves as SoM expert for all constituents on Instructor and Clinical Scholar actions as well as a portion of Clinician Educator actions; provides policy information for these appointments and reappointments.
  • Critically reads files for completeness, compliance with criteria, and content. Evaluates referee letters. Critically reviews teaching and clinical evaluations. Works with departments on revisions, if appropriate.
  • Will assist in operational support and guidance to review committees at the school level for Clinical Assistant, Associate and Professors.
  • Document and interpret policies and processes for contributors to the appointment application.
  • Critically reviews and approves all offer letters and addendums for Clinician Educators, Instructors and Clinical Scholars and identifies problematic information in letters and advise on how to resolve the problem. Will provide first level approval for appointments and reappointments.
  • Serve as primary point of contact, as needed, in orienting new administrators to the department, school, and university. Troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Serves as the point person for processing practice policy exemptions and upcoming actions for the school.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Bachelor's degree and three years of experience working with administrative processes, or combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Ability to track, monitor and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to learn university systems.
  • Experience working with databases and Microsoft Office suite.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, frequently sitting, stand/walk, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally twist/bend/stoop/squat; reach/work above shoulders; grasp forcefully; use a telephone.
  • Rarely sort/file paperwork or parts, kneel/crawl, twist/bend/stoop/squat, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

This role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University has five Regional Pay Structures. The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate.

The expected pay range for this position is $54,036 to $83,201 per annum.
