General Summary

The instructor will collaborate with the Associate Dean and, as appropriate, program director in order to assist students in accessing learning and attaining educational goals; facilitate learning by providing varied learning experiences and teaching in instructional modalities as assigned; and professionally represent the college, its role and mission. The instructor will meet the education and work experience standards set forth in the job specifications. The instructor will perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with college policies and procedures and accreditation standards. Coding Certification (CCS) preferred. This position can be located in Grand Island, Hastings, Columbus, Kearney or Lexington.

Essential Functions

1. INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN AND DELIVERY:

  • Update assigned program courses, outlines, and curriculum.
  • Prepare materials for assigned courses.
  • Participate in the selection of textbooks for assigned courses.
  • Maintain an awareness of recent research developments and trends in education and the program area and apply this information to assigned courses.
  • Provide instruction in technology appropriate to the job market.
  • Use a variety of methods and materials to deliver assigned courses that may include individualized, lectures, discussions, web-based classes, multimedia materials in the classroom, etc.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods to meet course goals and objectives that may include hands-on, problem-based, project-based, team teaching, etc.
  • Integrate student assessment into student learning activities and curriculum.

2. STUDENT RELATED

  • Promote the welfare and best interests of all students.
  • Facilitate student learning, provide effective instruction, and perform evaluations of student learning for all assigned classes.
  • Assign grades and maintain course/student records in accordance with FERPA regulations. Submit grades and records by established deadlines.
  • Submit reports, notification, conducts class and other surveys and other documentation as appropriate.
  • Advise students including assisting with pre-registration and registration, serving as an academic advisor to assigned students, and supporting or assisting with student orientations.
  • Publish and maintain on-campus hours to facilitate interaction with students, other faculty, staff, administrators and the public (office hours, e-mail, and other means of effective and timely communication).
  • Provide accessibility for accommodations when applicable.
  • Implement instructional strategies and technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience.

3. PROGRAM/DISCIPLINE RELATED

  • Develop and maintain curriculum.
  • Maintain instructional space(s), when applicable.
  • Assist in marketing, recruitment, and retention activities.
  • Integrate student assessment into student learning activities and curriculum and participate in college-wide assessment of student learning activities and/or projects.
  • Stay current with and use new trends and approaches to instruction via professional development activities (e.g., informed by best practices research in pedagogy, instructional design, multiple modes of delivery, a variety of teaching methods, use of instructional materials, media, and technology ) including in discipline specific professional development and training.
  • Assist with the evaluation and revision of the program including long-range goals, plans, budget, and procedures.

4. COLLEGE RELATED

  • Follow established College policies and procedures.
  • Teach courses as assigned within faculty work load guidelines, assignment may include courses in other disciplines based upon individual qualifications and expertise.
  • Represent the College professionally.
  • Attend faculty meetings, in-services, professional development, orientations, etc.
  • Comply with state and federal law applicable to professional duties and responsibilities.
  • Serve on campus and college committees.
  • Support and advance the strategic plan.
  • Provide access to curriculum based resources created while employed at the College as requested.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

5. VOLUNTARY ACTIVITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Mentor other faculty and/or adjuncts.
  • Direct the work of assigned work-study students.
  • Serve as an advisor for student clubs and/or associations.
  • Attend/participate in off-campus promotional and/or community events as a representative of the College.
  • Attend/participate in extra-curricular college activities.
  • Attend Central Community College Commencement Ceremonies.
