About the Job
The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Minnesota Medical School seeks a full-time tenure-track physician scientist to lead a translational research program investigating the effects of sterile inflammation on T cell development and immune tolerance. Research topics of interest include, but are not limited to repertoire analysis, lymphocyte development and function, multi-parameter spatial analysis.
Minimum requirements are an MD or equivalent degree (D.O., MBBS, etc.), eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Minnesota, board certified or board eligible in AP, CP or AP/CP and completion of an ACGME-accredited pathology residency training program. Sub-specialty fellowship training is preferred. Candidates must have demonstrated ability in teaching and scholarly productivity. Evidence of an established research program with external funding is required.
In addition to research, candidates will participate in clinical responsibilities, including on-call duties, conferences and sign-out, in their respective specialty area as well as medical student, resident and fellow and graduate student education.
The faculty appointment will be in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, which has a distinguished history of accomplishments in basic and clinical sciences. The position provides state-of-the-art facilities and exceptional opportunities for collaboration with investigators in the University of Minnesota Medical School, the Center for Immunology and the Masonic Cancer Center, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The University of Minnesota is a large university and medical school with an integrated, multi-specialty group practice composed of over 1,100 physicians and 1,500 health professionals, University of Minnesota Physicians. The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is home to many anatomic and clinical pathology faculty as well as basic science faculty involved in research, undergraduate and graduate education. Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: This role is dually employed by the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians. Salary at the University of Minnesota is dependent upon academic effort of the person hired, and begins at $55,000. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through University of Minnesota Physicians. Total salary is competitive with market and based on AAMC salary benchmarks.
