Job Description:

The Field Supervisor acts as a liaison between the program, the student intern, and the field placement sites (district/school). Assists interns in developing their knowledge, skills, attitudes, dispositions, and beliefs in professionally productive ways within the framework of the program and the relevant certification standards. Conducts mentor training and intern evaluations, supports the professional growth of the intern, and monitors the intern's completion of program and certification requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in required training meetings with university faculty and other field supervisors (typically three meetings per year).
  • Cultivate professional, interpersonal, and digital skills needed to perform duties remotely.
  • Provide mentor training/orientation.
  • Assist interns with seeking and obtaining experiences needed to demonstrate the relevant administrator certification standards.
  • Support interns in improving their professional decision-making abilities through critical self-reflection and self-analysis.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with the program as well as designated schools and districts.
  • Support the intern in addressing difficulties that may arise.
  • Commit to the schedule of each intern's internship (typically three quarters, Fall-Winter-Spring).
  • Meet with each intern as frequently as needed to support continuous growth.
  • Conduct quarterly evaluations and write reports as required by the program.
  • Supervise the development and delivery of the intern's capstone presentation.
  • Supervise the completion of the intern's certification portfolio, including all program and certification requirements by end of internship.
  • Ensure that the intern meets or exceeds all relevant certification standards and satisfies all program completion requirements prior to recommending the intern for administrator certification.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.   • Master's degree in fields relevant to the intern's area of study.
  • Washington state administrator certification relevant to the certification sought by assigned intern(s) (typically, Principal, Program Administrator, CTE Administrator, and Superintendent).
  • Relevant school and district administration experience.
  • Leadership background that contributes to the intern's success.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring ability.
  • Part-time or recently retired school administrator preferred.
