Finance & Grants Program Manager LEO
LEO is looking for a proactive, self-starter who desires to be part of solving one of the most critical issues our nation faces today-poverty. The Finance & Grants Program Manager will support LEO's financial operations and grants administration and play a key role in optimizing and stewarding LEO's $9.7 million operating budget-funded by more than 90 grants and restricted funds-across more than 100 research studies and 90+ partners nationwide.
Who we are: The Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities (LEO) at the University of Notre Dame is a research center dedicated to reducing poverty and improving lives in the United States through evidence-based programs and policies.
Who we need: We are looking for a mission-driven, collaborative team player who is excited to bring financial and grants expertise to a fast-growing, dynamic team.
The Finance & Grants Program Manager's top priorities will be:
- Financial Reporting: Manage internal and external financial reporting processes. Consolidate LEO's funds into monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for diverse stakeholders. Establish annual reporting schedules and serve as a key financial resource to internal and external partners.
- Budgeting: Prepare and manage internal and external budgeting processes. Lead the development of fund-level and consolidated operating budgets and track budget-to-actual performance throughout the year. Oversee LEO's use of the University's Financial Compass tool.
- Financial Analysis: Collaborate with the Associate Director of Administration to provide meaningful financial analysis to guide strategic decision-making.
- Fund & Expense Management: Oversee management of all restricted and grant funds, ensuring compliance with University and donor guidelines. Complete labor distributions for all staff and ensure proper allocation of expenses.
- Team Leadership: Supervise the Finance & Grants Associate and foster a culture of excellence and accountability.
Qualifications: Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field; 3-4 years of related experience. Required: A deep commitment to the mission of both LEO and the University. Ability to learn Notre Dame's general ledger system and other internal reporting systems. Proficient in Microsoft suite and Google applications. Experience preparing financial reports, including operating budgets, proposal budgets, and internal and external financial reports. Detail oriented, logical, and highly organized. Analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and consistency. Ability to take initiative, work autonomously, and take on additional responsibilities as required by business needs. An ability to thrive in a small and dynamic team while effectively navigating a large University environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred: Experience supporting financial operations of a University or nonprofit organization. Experience working within a university setting.
