Program Coordinator/RAISE (UEC)
Project RAISE is a multi-year National Science Foundation (NSF) grant funded project that examines the role of language (including multilingualism and academic language) in STEM education. The successful candidate will work with the Principal Investigator and administratively support the project participants in various aspects of the grant activities, including STEM faculty pedagogy development partnership with regional K-12 school districts, multilingual STEM student success and retention, and research into the role of language in STEM teaching and learning in higher education.
Position Summary
Temporary, Non-Exempt, Full Time, Benefited position through 12/31/2027 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).
Salary: $4,000.00-$5,200.00 per month.
Location: On site. CSUSB Campus.
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week. Typically 8:00AM-5:00PM Monday through Friday. Some nights and weekends may be required.
Typical Activities
Under minimal supervision of the Project Director, the Program Coordinator will work independently to:
- Assist the PI and project team in collecting and organizing all project related documents and data, including keeping records of all participants including CSUSB faculty and staff and that of our K12 partners, financial and purchasing records, and any grant-related reports to NSF.
- Facilitate communication between evaluator and members of the project team.
- Facilitate communication and budgetary transfers/payments between CSUSB and K12 partners.
- Assist project team in managing confidential research data with human subjects.
- Arrange meetings/events for the RAISE team including team meetings, advisory board meetings, meetings with K12 partners, summer institutes, etc., including monitoring attendance, arranging rooms, ordering food, facilitating parking, and facilitating Zoom videoconferencing as needed.
- Assist the project team in recruiting student interns, including advertising and processing applications: sharing with reviewers, gathering input for final appointments.
- Work with UEC Research Analysts and Office of Financial Aid representatives, to make sure stipends/reassigned time to participants are awarded.
- Assist project team in compiling project reports for the project evaluation and annual reporting, including assistance with submitting IRB information into CAYUSE.
- Monitor grant expenditures and budget using PeopleSoft, including overseeing disbursement and record keeping; creating purchase orders or using credit cards for local project supplies; monitoring expenditures including reassigned time and faculty summer pay; ensuring that appropriate reimbursement occurs for routine items used by project faculty in participating departments.
- Work with UEC to ensure appointment/payment for vendors and personnel.
- Assist the project team in communication, including working with the College of Natural Sciences and Strategic Communications for press releases, maintaining project webpage, and social media.
- Make travel arrangements, enter travel authorizations and process expenses through CONCUR.
- Assist team members when preparing applications for supplemental or additional funding.
- Other duties as requested or approved by PI, related to RAISE operation.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree.
Experience: Professional administration and clerical work.
Other: Must be able to process general office clerical work, along with editing and computer skills including Microsoft office suite (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook) and be able to quickly and accurately learn other electronic databases and programs, such as PeopleSoft, Cayuse, Concur, etc. Applicants must have strong organizational, management, leadership, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills. Applicant must possess thorough knowledge of office methods, Internet usage and social media sites, and be able to handle confidential and sensitive information/situations and think creatively to resolve issues. Applicants must be able to work with diverse populations and with a team of support staff and faculty, and provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff and K12 partners. Applicants must have the ability to function with minimum supervision for routine tasks, be able to follow directions, take initiative, be flexible, prioritize multiple projects and make decision with minimal direction, and be accountable for work performed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a college or university office setting.
