Overview

University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, Major Gifts, the Major Gifts Officer, University-wide will develop and execute successful fundraising strategies for a portfolio of high net worth individuals capable of making 5, 6, and 7-figure gifts in support of the University's philanthropic priorities. With a curious and diligent approach, the Major Gift Officer, University-wide will foster a collaborative culture of donor interest-based fundraising strategies and will be responsible for progressive results of $1M+ raised annually. Prospects may be assigned in a particular state, or cities in which NYU has a cluster of University-wide highly rated prospects and the Metro NY area; some travel may be required. The Major Gifts Officer will champion a culture of collaboration across UDAR, promote an inclusive work environment where successes across the team are celebrated, and seek opportunities for continuous growth and improvement, both individually and as a team.

Responsibilities

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience: 5+ years of direct fundraising experience or combination of education and experience

Preferred Experience: 5+ years documented achievement of progressive fundraising outcomes of 5-figure gifts and higher; Experience fundraising in a school environment

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with all kinds of constituents and a proven track record of closing major gifts in the 5 and 6-figure range; Must have the ability to understand and share University-wide priorities to alumni, parents, and friends; Outstanding communication skills both verbally and in writing; Ability to take initiative, be a self-starter and collaborate with others; Working knowledge of various software applications; Knowledge of MS Office Suite

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to work in a high pressure, fast-paced environment; Must possess the ability to work with changing priorities and multiple projects; Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including a high level of attention to detail and active listening skills; Demonstrated ability to effectively partner and collaborate with a diverse group of colleagues, faculty, and academic leaders

Qualifications

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $100,000.00 to USD $120,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
