Why Your Role Matters:

The Finance Services Support Lead ensures the smooth delivery of high-volume finance operations across UNSW. This role is central to maintaining financial accuracy, service standards, and process integrity across Faculties and Divisions.

You will lead frontline finance operations, strengthen controls, improve reporting visibility, and drive process improvements that enhance efficiency and financial governance. Your leadership directly impacts service quality, operational performance, and the effectiveness of UNSW Finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise Finance Support Services Supervisors to ensure accurate and timely delivery of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general finance transactions.
  • Partner with the Manager, Finance Support Services to oversee operational performance, monitor service levels, and manage risks and escalations.
  • Analyse weekly transactional reports, interpret data trends, and provide clear performance insights and reporting.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex finance enquiries, providing expert guidance on finance systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Manage team workload and productivity to meet service delivery targets and stakeholder expectations.
  • Contribute to finance projects and initiatives with a strong focus on process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Support capability uplift through coaching, mentoring, and targeted training within the team.

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualified in a relevant field with substantial experience in operational finance within a large, complex organisation (ACA or CPA desirable).
  • Experienced in leading teams in high-volume transactional finance environments.
  • Strong analytical capability, including advanced Excel skills and performance reporting expertise.
  • Confident managing stakeholders and communicating clearly across different levels of the organisation.
  • Process-driven, solutions-focused, and able to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
