Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in fire science or a related public safety field. In some cases, in lieu of the applicant's having a bachelor's degree, the College will consider, as appropriate, associate degrees coupled with related work experiences in the field, professional licensure and certifications, or other demonstrated competencies and achievements that are relevant to the subject matter to be taught.

Firefighter II certification required.

Preferred Qualifications:

A master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in the subject area or a related degree or a master's degree in education. Previous teaching experience and experience with curriculum development and assessment.

Certification as an EMS and/or Fire Instructor.

Summary of Duties:

The part-time faculty member is responsible for providing professional, quality work as a teaching faculty member. Work includes facilitating student learning by conducting and teaching technical education courses at the undergraduate level, using active learning methods and a variety of instructional strategies designed to assist the learner in meeting the objectives of the course; assessing student learning; and providing academic assistance to students as needed.
