Gavilan College fosters justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion through its Principles of Community. As a member of our community, you will join us in valuing the worth and dignity of every person, the pursuit of truth, devotion to excellence, and the principles of democratic citizenship. When you join our team at Gavilan College, you will become part of an innovative and equity-focused community that approaches higher education as a matter of social justice requiring broad collaboration among faculty, staff, administration, students, and community partners.
The Position:
- The Adapted Physical Education (APE) program is an integral part of the Accessible Education Center (AEC) meeting the needs of students with disabilities. Educational Assistance Courses are designed in compliance with Title 5 state regulations to address students' educational and functional limitations related to their verified disability. The APE Instructor teaches aquatic exercise, cardiovascular fitness, and resistance training courses for students with disabilities.
- The Kinesiology Department at Gavilan College is dedicated to promoting lifelong wellness, physical literacy, and inclusive access to movement education. We offer a variety of transfer and activity courses designed to serve students pursuing degrees in kinesiology, physical education, fitness, and athletic training, as well as those seeking to improve their personal health and wellness.
Ideal Candidate:
Gavilan College is committed to recruiting individuals that embody our Principles of Community by:

The ideal candidate desires connection with students and the community beyond the classroom and works to foster cross-cultural and anti-racist media collaborations with Gavilan departments, student groups, and community organizations. In joining Gavilan College, the ideal candidate thrives as a faculty member continually striving to employ anti-racist, anti-ableist pedagogy and develop successful strategies to inspire and retain historically underserved students.
