FUSE Student Researcher - Chemistry (Part-time Temporary / Summer 2026)
Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for FUSE Student Researchers in Chemistry on the Dahlonega campus. The candidate will be working in a chemistry lab preparing and characterizing samples of polymers used in pickleballs. No experience working in a lab is required, but you must have successfully completed at least Organic Chemistry 2 (CHEM 3442). You will be trained in how to prepare samples, run instruments, analyze data, and prepare presentations. Some knowledge of the game of pickleball is encouraged but not required. The research assistant will join the FUSE program to conduct focused and meaningful research, scholarly and creative activities alongside a faculty researcher from June 1 - July 24, 2026. This includes in-person workshops and group meetings once a week for the duration of the program.

Responsibilities
- Prepare chemical samples.
- Use instrumentation including NMR, TGA, GPC and IR.
- Prepare graphs and charts.
- Distress pickleballs.
- Prepare presentations.
- Clean glassware and lab area.
Required Qualifications
- Current UNG student not graduating before December 2026.
- Must have completed CHEM 3442.
Proposed Salary
$12.00 per hour
