Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for FUSE Student Researchers in Film & Digital Media on the Gainesville campus. This position is for two Assistant Editors to support the post-production process of a short documentary by organizing media, preparing timelines, and assisting the Editor with edits and revisions. Responsibilities include ingesting and labeling footage, syncing audio, managing project files, creating rough assemblies, and handling exports. The role requires strong attention to detail, familiarity with editing software Premiere Pro, and an interest in documentary storytelling. Prior post-production experience is a plus. The research assistant will join the FUSE program to conduct focused and meaningful research, scholarly and creative activities alongside a faculty researcher from June 1 - July 24, 2026. This includes in-person workshops and group meetings once a week for the duration of the program.

Responsibilities

  • Review original documentary footage and archival footage.
  • Ingesting, labeling and organizing footage and managing project files.
  • Draft preliminary storyboard and narrative structure; faculty feedback.
  • Implement revisions; refine narrative flow, pacing, and archival integration; technical adjustments.
  • Assembling rough and first fine cut, peer review and faculty critique.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in Premiere with willingness to learn and collaborate.
  • Interest in documentary storytelling.

Required Qualifications

  • UNG student not graduating before December 2026.
  • Must have completed or be currently enrolled in MDST 3700.
  • Post-Production Courses

Proposed Salary

$12.00 per hour
