Graduate Program Coordinator
The Graduate Program Coordinator (Student Administrative Assistant Senior) in Biostatistics provides comprehensive administrative support for the department's MS and Health Data Science programs. This role advises students on curriculum and degree requirements, manages student records and degree audits, assists with application, review, onboarding processes, course maintenance and override processing, and assists with training grant and fellowship administration. The position requires ongoing collaboration with university offices and strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to support student success and program operations.
MS & HDS MS PROGRAMS (60%)
- Process dual degrees applications.
- Respond to student inquiries program requirements.
- Respond to students' concerns and questions regarding enrollment and requirements, graduation requirements, overrides, independent studies, and prepares requested letters for International Center, OPT, CPT, prospective employers, or refers them to appropriate resources.
- Receive and facilitate student requests for waivers, open electives and send them to the curriculum committee for decision.
- Maintain and update the online degree audit system each semester.
- Audit MS student degree during the third semester and for degree checkout.
- Provide teaching evaluation reports as necessary.
- Provide grade roster reports as necessary.
- Work and communicate with Rackham, the Registrar's office or Financial Aid regarding student affairs and concerns.
- Maintain student records.
- Advise students on curriculum choices for Biostat and Health Data Science programs.
- Respond to student concerns and questions regarding enrollment and graduation requirements.
Other tasks (20%)
- Coordinate and prepare Master's level Annual Student Review.
- Import student information from MPathways.
- Collect evaluations from faculty.
- Combine information and prepare final documents to be reviewed by faculty.
- Create and send evaluation letters to students.
- Create and maintain annual faculty class scheduling survey of teaching preferences.
- Update course listings on website.
- Evaluate process requests for class overrides and modifications.
- Additional duties assigned as needed.
Training Grants and other financial tasks (15%)
- Work with the financial aid office to solve all student requests about unpaid fees and tuition, late fees and other financial matters.
- Prepare training grant tables for the Department of Biostatistics and other departments collaborating with the department for grant submissions.
- Organize and submit Fellowship nominations including, Predoctoral, International, One Term Dissertation.
- Process financial payments as needed.
Alumni and other (5%)
- Update the alumni database after every cohort graduation and when needed.
- Assist with Prospective and Admitted Student Events, graduation party and all other activities related to students.
- Respond to and answer surveys from outside parties such as AMA, ASA etc.
- Update and maintain alumni database.
- Develop and recommend strategies for enhancing alumni engagement.
