Reporting to the Grow NJ Kids Portfolio Review Coordinator, the Grow NJ Kids Portfolio Review Assistant plays a critical role in facilitating the review of Grow NJ Kids (GNJK) standards and curriculum records as part of the GNJK rating process. The Portfolio Review Assistant serves as a primary point of contact for early childhood education and care (ECE) programs going through the GNJK rating process. This position is hybrid, with regular travel to Montclair State University.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform a detailed review of assigned ECE program documentation and training records to recommend a rating for documentation and formal curriculum training.
  • Serve as a point of contact for assigned ECE programs throughout the rating process.
  • Maintain timely communication with assigned programs.
  • Review ECE classroom observation data.
  • Draft rating summary reports.
  • Participate in regular interrater reliability sessions, achieving reliability.
  • Support classroom observations on an as-needed basis.
  • Participate in regular Portfolio Review Team meetings, collaborating with team members to plan and carry out work.
  • Respond to relevant external inquiries from GNJK partners and ECE programs.
  • Occasional travel to GNJK sites across New Jersey.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, psychology, or a related social science field.
  • Minimum one year of professional experience in ECE or child development field.
  • Familiarity with Grow NJ Kids rating standards, ECE curricula, and Quality Rating and Improvement Systems (QRIS).
  • Fluency in English with excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and the ability to travel to program sites around New Jersey.

PREFERRED:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, evaluation, or related social science field.
  • Experience in working with ECE programs in a technical assistance or coaching capacity.
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Strengths both as a team player and a self-starter.
  • Strong organizational, task, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team and with diverse populations, including personnel in organizations and agencies inside and outside the university, as well as key stakeholders participating in the programs we support.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain high quality standards.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
