Position Purpose: The Hazing Prevention Project Manager will lead Dartmouth’s campus-wide Hazing Prevention Coalition (D-HPC) in the design, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive, evidence-informed plan to prevent hazing, foster ethical leadership, and promote healthy, inclusive, and safe campus environments. Working closely with the Student Wellness Center and other campus partners, the manager will: Integrate hazing-prevention efforts with broader wellbeing and other campus initiatives. Serve as the primary liaison for faculty, staff, students, alumni, and national experts on issues of hazing prevention. Ensure all strategies reflect Dartmouth’s values and the perspectives of diverse campus groups.
Description: Join Dartmouth’s Hazing Prevention initiative by leading a 20+‑member coalition of staff, faculty, and student leaders desiring to reshape campus culture and set the national standard for safe, inclusive environments. In partnership with committed stakeholders and national experts, you will design and implement a comprehensive plan to prevent hazing and foster ethical leadership. Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp
Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, health education, higher education, health promotion, psychology, or related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in hazing or violence prevention, health promotion, wellness, or a closely related field.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to foster positive and productive relationships with a variety of stakeholders (e.g., students, staff, and faculty).
- Experience designing and facilitating interactive, skill-based workshops.
- Experience working with and/or advocating on behalf of marginalized people (e.g., African-American, Asian-American, Faith-Based, International, Latine, LGBTQIA+, Native American).
- Experience working with aspects of hazing and violence prevention initiatives.
- High degree of flexibility, including the ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in public health, social work, health education, higher education, health promotion, counseling, community development, or related field.
- 5+ more years of experience in health promotion, wellness, hazing or violence prevention, or a closely related field.
- Ability to solve problems quickly and completely with minimal supervision, to manage multiple projects, and to work constructively in a team environment.
- Experience working in a higher education environment or with college-aged individuals.
- Expertise teaching or facilitating conversations in topics related to hazing prevention.
- Experience with topic areas of sexual violence, substance misuse, positive team development, belonging, power dynamics.
- Experience working with groups at risk for hazing incidents, such as students affiliated with Greek organizations, athletic teams, or other student organizations.
- Training in or experience with Student Wellness Center philosophies and approaches (e.g., motivational interviewing, bystander intervention, behavior change theories, socio-ecological model, etc.).
Key Accountabilities
Coalition Leadership (40%):
- Co-chair and coordinate the D-HPC (cross-campus, interdisciplinary team of stakeholders).
- Collaborates with campus constituents to design and implement evidence-informed, theory-driven interventions that foster positive behavior change, decrease power-based violence, and promote wellbeing that will be utilized across the Dartmouth community.
- Apply public-health frameworks (e.g., socio-ecological model, health-behavior theory) to assess campus-wide hazing risk factors and identify prevention gaps.
- Support the development of an evidence-based campus-wide hazing-prevention plan aligned with other institutional prevention initiatives.
- Serve as the main Dartmouth main point of contact for collaborating with nationally recognized leaders in the field.
Project Management & Communications (40%):
- Operationalize coalition work: timelines, surveys, engagement activities, outcome tracking. Develop, curate, and distribute internal communications to the D-HPC to keep coalition members informed of prevention progress and research.
- Support regular assessments of hazing-prevention education to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
- Develop and distribute promotional and educational material related to hazing prevention on all campus platforms to keep students, faculty, staff, alumni, and leadership informed and engaged.
- Partner with diverse campus constituencies to embed cultural-inclusion and equity into the hazing prevention campus-wide initiative.
Program Development & Delivery (20%):
- Support large-scale culture-change initiatives that foster ethical leadership.
- Act as a resource for individuals, student groups, and faculty on hazing-prevention issues.
- Develop and facilitate trauma-informed, culturally-responsive, strength-based training, workshops and other programming.
