Your Role on the Team

Position Summary: The Unit Secretary keeps the department running with their administrative support and acts as a focus of communication in the nursing station. Their duties include assisting patients when they arrive at the department for care, fielding phone calls to the unit, maintaining, filing and organizing patient records, working with other departments to coordinate care services and managing office/medical supplies for the department. The Unit Secretary must be familiar with and adhere to Regulatory Standards and UCI Health-Fountain Valley Policies and Procedure.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications:

• Recent acute care experience
• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
