Hourly Professional Tutor
Job Description
DāYouville University and the School of Health Professions have been awarded a Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) granted by the Health Resources and Services Administration. The DāYouville University Health Careers Opportunity Program (DYU HCOP) will assist individuals from economically and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds in the Buffalo and rural Western New York region to enter and graduate from a health professions program. DYU HCOP will improve recruitment, matriculation, retention, and graduation rates through enrichment programs that address the academic and social needs of students from disadvantaged backgrounds. It will provide opportunities to HCOP students for community-based experiential health profession training, emphasizing experiences in underserved communities.
The hourly Professional Tutor will provide in-person tutoring to enrolled HCOP students. Subject areas include but are not limited to English for speakers of other languages, science, and writing. Professional tutors must be available up to 10 hours per week with availability in the afternoon, evening, and/or weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Tutor students in assigned subjects
- Provide student guidance to promote study skills
- Assist students in assessing skills and goals
- Maintain a log of activities
- Meet with project staff and/or faculty to discuss planning and activities
- Work closely with HCOP Success Coaches
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelorās degree
- Masterās degree in education or related field is preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
