Job Summary
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic advisor to assigned business units, providing consultative human resources support across the employee lifecycle. In partnership with leadership, the HRBP advises on employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, total rewards consultation, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness.
Operating within a public-sector and higher education environment, the HRBP ensures consistent application of University and Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) policies while helping leaders navigate complex personnel matters and mitigate organizational risk. This role requires sound judgment, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, discretion in handling sensitive information, and the ability to build effective working relationships with leaders and employees at all levels.
Depending on organizational needs and the selected candidate’s experience, the HR Business Partner may support key HR initiatives with a functional emphasis in areas such as Talent Acquisition and Onboarding or Total Rewards (compensation and benefits) while continuing to provide broad HR partnership to assigned client groups.
This recruitment may be used to fill multiple HR Business Partner positions with varying functional focuses within the Division of Talent Management and Culture.
Telework:
This position requires regular on-site presence across both the main campus and the medical campus, depending on business needs. The position may be eligible for telework up to two days per week, in accordance with university telework policy and supervisor approval.
Salary:
Minimum $77,000; salary commensurate with relevant experience. The anticipated hiring range may vary depending on the candidate’s background and functional focus within the HR Business Partner role.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. An equivalent combination of a Bachelor’s degree and significant related experience may be substituted for the advanced degree.
- Demonstrated knowledge and progressively responsible experience across one or more HR functional areas, including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and compensation, etc.,
- Ability to interpret and apply employment laws and policy frameworks
- Strong consulting and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to manage complex and sensitive matters with discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a service-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education or a public-sector environment
- SHRM (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP), HRCI (PHR or SPHR), or other related HR certification
- Experience supporting decentralized organizations
