Department Information
The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University has a student body of 1,200 undergraduates, 260 graduate students, and 70 primary and 73 program faculty. In 2023 US News Graduate Program Rankings placed the department as the #1 ranked department in BME in the United States and our Undergraduate Program as the #2 department in the United States. Job Summary
The Human Resource Consultant provides expert guidance and support to organizations on various Human Resource matters, including talent management, compliance, and organizational development. This position emphasizes the assessment of current Human Resource practices, the identification of areas for improvement, and the delivery of customized solutions to meet the unique needs of the institution.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing human resource practices to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement within the organization.
- Provide expert advice on talent management strategies, including recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning, to enhance organizational effectiveness.
- Develop customized training and development programs tailored to the specific needs of the institution to foster employee growth and skill enhancement.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions for managers and employees on various Human Resource topics, including performance management, leadership development, and employee engagement.
- Analyze Human Resource metrics and data to provide insights and recommendations that inform strategic decision-making and improve overall human resource functions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of compensation and benefits programs that attract and retain top talent while aligning with the institution's budget.
- Serve as a resource for managers and employees by providing guidance on complex Human Resource issues and facilitating effective communication throughout the organization.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations that summarize findings, recommendations, and action plans for improving human resource practices and outcomes.
- Collaborate with leadership to design and implement policies and procedures that ensure compliance with employment laws and industry best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Associate degree in related discipline or equivalent, related experience.
Required Experience
2+ years of relevant experience

Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent, related experience
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or equivalent
- Experience or familiarity working in higher education setting or education system
- Knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with various HR team members to support efforts in talent acquisition and general HR practices
- Demonstrated experience as a liaison engaging with various HR Partners, internal client groups, stakeholders and other HR operational support functions.
- Proven organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in HRIS
- Excellent task management skills with the ability to work under pressure, manage time efficiently to meet project deadlines, able to multi-task effectively, and able to determine priority tasks in a changing environment
- Demonstrated ability to execute continuous process improvement initiatives
