Basic Function
Under the direction of an administrator or manager, performs a variety of responsible and technical personnel administrative functions and activities; assists in the planning, organization, and execution of recruitment, selection, and employment processes; assists in the planning, organization, development, and maintenance of a comprehensive personnel record and file management, filing systems, storage, and retrieval system.
Representative Duties
- Performs a variety of technical personnel administrative functions, including but not limited to employee recruitment and selection, personnel employment processing, and other related functions and activities. E
- Reviews and preliminarily screens applications to ensure application completeness; reviews applications to ensure applicants meet minimum qualification standards. E
- Reviews requests for new personnel and personnel replacements; assists managers and supervisors by providing employment eligibility lists and materials to aid in the recruitment and selection process. E
- Assists in the planning, organization, and conduct of recruitment processes... serves as the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) monitor. E
- Assists in the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of manual and automated record and file management, storage, and retrieval systems. E
- Interprets and applies policies, regulations, and guidelines... E
- Operates a variety of office machines including personal computer and software such as Microsoft Office. E
- Performs a variety of clerical and administrative responsibilities... E
- May independently respond to routine correspondence...
- May assist in conducting, planning, and organizing personnel orientations...
- May assist in the compilation and preparation of the personnel component of the Governing Board agenda.
- Performs related duties that support the overall objective of the position.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: District policies, California Education Code, FERPA, recruitment practices, HRIS, CBAs, office administration, Microsoft Office, etc.
Ability to: Perform essential responsibilities independently, organize priorities, interpret policies, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively, operate office equipment, etc.
Education and Experience
- High school graduate/GED + training/coursework in personnel management + 3 years technical personnel admin experience (pref. 1 year lead), OR
- Associate degree in HR/business + 2 years experience, OR equivalent.
Working Conditions
Physical demands: sitting/standing, computer use, lift 20 lbs. Mental demands: detailed work, problem-solving. Work environment: typical office.
