Basic Function

Under the direction of an administrator or manager, performs a variety of responsible and technical personnel administrative functions and activities; assists in the planning, organization, and execution of recruitment, selection, and employment processes; assists in the planning, organization, development, and maintenance of a comprehensive personnel record and file management, filing systems, storage, and retrieval system.

Representative Duties

  1. Performs a variety of technical personnel administrative functions, including but not limited to employee recruitment and selection, personnel employment processing, and other related functions and activities. E
  2. Reviews and preliminarily screens applications to ensure application completeness; reviews applications to ensure applicants meet minimum qualification standards. E
  3. Reviews requests for new personnel and personnel replacements; assists managers and supervisors by providing employment eligibility lists and materials to aid in the recruitment and selection process. E
  4. Assists in the planning, organization, and conduct of recruitment processes... serves as the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) monitor. E
  5. Assists in the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of manual and automated record and file management, storage, and retrieval systems. E
  6. Interprets and applies policies, regulations, and guidelines... E
  7. Operates a variety of office machines including personal computer and software such as Microsoft Office. E
  8. Performs a variety of clerical and administrative responsibilities... E
  9. May independently respond to routine correspondence...
  10. May assist in conducting, planning, and organizing personnel orientations...
  11. May assist in the compilation and preparation of the personnel component of the Governing Board agenda.
  12. Performs related duties that support the overall objective of the position.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of: District policies, California Education Code, FERPA, recruitment practices, HRIS, CBAs, office administration, Microsoft Office, etc.

Ability to: Perform essential responsibilities independently, organize priorities, interpret policies, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively, operate office equipment, etc.

Education and Experience

  • High school graduate/GED + training/coursework in personnel management + 3 years technical personnel admin experience (pref. 1 year lead), OR
  • Associate degree in HR/business + 2 years experience, OR equivalent.

Working Conditions

Physical demands: sitting/standing, computer use, lift 20 lbs. Mental demands: detailed work, problem-solving. Work environment: typical office.
