Title: HVAC Technician

Unit: AFSCME, Unit II

Department: Facilities Management

Reports to: Director of Facilities

Date: August 13, 2024 (Update August 19, 2025)

General Summary: The HVAC Technician performs diagnosis, monitors BMS systems, preventative maintenance, and service on all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment on the College's Lowell and Bedford Campuses.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Checks, inspects and monitors various types of air conditioning, heating, and ventilating systems
• Operates HVAC machinery and mechanical equipment
• Maintains HVAC machinery and equipment
• Cleans and maintains work areas and HVAC machinery and equipment
• Responds to emergencies and breakdowns
• Monitors computer control systems
• Prepares weekly reports on preventive maintenance schedules
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• At least two years of full-time experience in the operation and/or maintenance of HVAC equipment
• Knowledge of electrical heating systems, electronic control systems, low-pressure boilers, pumps
• Valid driver's license with clean record
• Experience with equity-minded work and diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual skills a plus
