Instructional Designer

Job Summary

A member of the University Libraries' Teaching & Learning Department, the Instructional Designer is responsible for: applying sound instructional design principles and accessibility guidelines to develop, maintain, and assess a wide range of instructional resources in support of scalable and sustainable information literacy instruction in curricular and co-curricular contexts; providing consultations and support to librarians and library staff across the organization who are seeking to improve their teaching through evidence-based methods; and assisting with the selection, implementation, and evaluation of learning technologies. Works with colleagues to support the effective design, delivery, and assessment of credit-bearing courses offered through the University Libraries and regularly acts as an instructor of record. Collaborates in the promotion, development, and facilitation of instructor development programming and resources. This position reports to the Teaching & Learning Engagement Librarian.

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Master's Degree in education or related appropriate field
  • 2 years professional experience in the design and evaluation of instructional resources
  • Proven ability to work across academic content areas
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • High quality customer service in an educational setting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Desired:

  • Advanced coursework in instructional design or learning technologies
  • Experience with academic technologies, software, and tools, including but not limited to Canvas, Springshare products, H5P, and PowerAutomate
  • Previous instructional design experience in a higher education setting, especially an academic library setting
  • Previous experience teaching as instructor of record in credit-bearing courses
  • Familiarity with copyright and/or accessibility considerations as related to the design and delivery of instructional resources
  • Familiarity with the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education
  • Basic familiarity with generative AI tools within an academic context

Posting Range

The posting range for this position is $58,700-$75,000 annually.
