Instructor/Assistant Professor of Finance
Job Details
The School of Business at Whitworth University invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Instructor or Assistant Professor of Finance. Experienced candidates with exceptional backgrounds will be eligible for the Kenneth Roberts Endowed Professorship in Finance and Accounting.
The Whitworth School of Business (WSB) is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and is committed to providing its students with an outstanding business education. Small class sizes combined with close interaction between students and faculty enable our graduates to learn the essential professional skills and knowledge to successfully compete for positions in today’s high-velocity global marketplace. The undergraduate degree program is one of the largest on campus, with an estimated 16% of all Whitworth students choosing to major in business. The school offers both a traditional undergraduate degree in business with concentrations in accounting, economics, finance, management, and marketing, and a unique undergraduate degree completion program in organizational management. The graduate program provides excellent Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Business Leadership (MBL) degrees, and a Master of Science in Financial Planning (MSFP). Faculty members are expected to teach in each of these programs.
Application review will begin on November 1, 2025.
Over the course of the past decade, the WSB has developed an exceptional focus in the area of finance. We are looking for someone who can build upon this strong foundation and push the WSB to even greater excellence in the area of financial education, and who is particularly interested in applied finance. Possible courses include corporate finance, derivatives, financial statement analysis, advanced financial statement analysis, and financial management. In addition to teaching, this faculty member will work as the advisor to the Whitworth Student Investment Group (WSIG), mentoring and working closely with students in the club. The WSIG, which is open to all majors at the university, is one of the only student-led investment clubs in the U.S. The CFA team sponsored by WSIG typically wins the Regional CFA Research Challenge and has participated in other competitions in recent years. The new instructor/assistant/associate professor of finance will be expected to serve as the faculty adviser for WSIG and the CFA team.

Additional responsibilities include participation in departmental activities and governance, attending faculty assemblies, development days and retreats, serving on committees, and advising.
