Instructor, Land Surveying - Physical Sciences Tenure Track - Fall 2026 (REVISED)
Job Summary

- This position will teach undergraduate classes in Land Surveying and Geomatics. These will include civil engineering (CEE), construction engineering management (CEM), upper-division computer-aided design (CADD), and land surveying (SURV) courses. Candidates must also have knowledge in surveying concepts such as static GNSS surveys, imaging stations, understanding of datum, licensing laws and the land surveying profession. Candidates must also have knowledge of GIS and CADD as applied to land surveying and geomatics.
- Outdoor field work is required.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Land Surveying and/or Geomatics or equivalent program from an accredited college or university and 10 years of comparable professional experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Holder of a currently active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License. Must maintain licensure at own expense.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience who bring professional capabilities and those with the ability to build connections with industry and foster new relationships.
The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Knowledge of basic surveying skills including use of automatic levels, total stations, RTK GNSS units and data collectors.
- Knowledge of surveying concepts such as static GNSS surveys, imaging stations, understanding of datum, licensing laws and the land surveying profession.
- The ability to use GIS and CADD for land surveying and geomatics applications.
- The ability to hike to and around survey practice fields, as well as occasional setting or resetting of monuments and maintenance of surveying equipment.
- The ability to be a productive team player and to interact well with peers, students and colleagues as well as stakeholder from industry, government agencies, and the public.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and strong interest in undergraduate teaching.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.
Starting Salary Information
Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. For example, for an instructor with a Master's degree, the salary range would be $58,046 to $74,304 annually. The entire salary range is up to $89,166 annually with a Doctorate and 10 years' experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for initial salary placement purposes.
The selected candidate may choose Tenure Track or Market Factor salary.
Market Factor salary: $66,337.
Eligible for additional compensation for summer courses and Program Coordination.
Bargaining unit Faculty members hired are eligible for relocation expenses reimbursement in accordance with the College of Southern Nevada Faculty Contract CSN-NFA Contract 2022-25.
