Department Information
Within this setting the CEC department offers BS degrees in Civil Engineering (BSCE), Construction Engineering (BSConE), and Construction (BSCons). The BSCE and BSConE programs are accredited by ABET and the BSCons program is accredited by ACCE. The department also offers an M.S. degree in Civil Engineering and a Ph.D. degree in Engineering, with a concentration in Civil Engineering. Delivery of the curriculum for each program emphasizes hands-on and experiential learning where students develop practical skills valued by employers. State-of-the-art equipment/instrumentation and advanced software are employed in both classroom and laboratory/field settings to prepare students to be productive technical professionals when they graduate.
Job Summary
Reporting to the department chair, the Lecturer position requires teaching a variety of in-class and online courses in construction management, construction engineering, and civil engineering. Examples of these courses include Introduction to Construction Management, Construction Graphics, Construction Surveying, Quantity Estimating, Construction Cost Estimating, Construction Planning/Scheduling, Civil Engineering Computations, Engineering Graphics, and Structural Analysis. The successful candidate is also expected to assist the chair in service activities such accreditation/assessment, student competition, student recruitment, course revision/improvement, etc. The position is an academic (10 month), non-tenure track appointment.
Required Qualifications
- Earned M.S. degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Construction, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or Civil Engineering, by August 1, 2026.
- Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
- Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned Ph.D. degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
- Professional experience and expertise in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
- Teaching experience at a higher education institution.
Proposed Salary
Commensurate with experience.
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
