- Based in Future Industries Institute at the Mawson Lakes Campus
- Full-time (1.0 FTE), fixed-term position until 30 June 2028

Work that matters
As an Instrument Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in enabling high-impact research by providing specialist advice, training, and access to advanced characterisation instrumentation supported through Microscopy Australia’s open access scheme. Your work will directly support researchers, students, industry partners, and external collaborators, helping drive research outcomes and national reporting metrics.

This position sits within the Future Industries Institute and supports a diverse range of research activity across the University and external partners through access to world-class microscopy and microanalysis capability.

Experience
To join our community and thrive in this role, you will likely have the following skills and experience:
- A postgraduate qualification in chemistry, physics, materials science or a closely related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Experience operating and maintaining microscopy or microanalysis instrumentation (including X-ray based characterisation)
- Strong capability in analysing and interpreting data and communicating outcomes to stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to develop analytical methodologies and improve technical protocols
- Confidence training and supporting users with diverse technical backgrounds
